her nails racked down his cheek, as he stilled, dragging in a threat.

“you- you’re lying.” he laughed as tears cascaded helplessly, “you just want me to despair,” a smile so weak and sickly crawled up, like a bug, disgusting, just waiting to be squished, “and despair is how you say ‘I love you,’ right?”

she stared at him, blank, before her lips curled, eyes cruelly fond, as her foot stomped downwards, a swift and precise motion.

but the red on his wrists constrained him, reminding him it was impossible to escape, both comforting and terrorizing; grounding him, proof of love—keeping him tied to her, for better or worse, a collar, a leash, suffocating. nothing he said would matter in the least, and every word would end up a lie.

she spoke for him, a smug smirk tugging on her lips, “I only gave him what he wanted.”

he says nothing, because how could he ever deny her, when all she ever said was the truth?
