Everett was, at the least, a novelty. His long rambles of absolute nonsense, oddly observant nature, thriving imagination, and hyperactive personality made him an oddity. Yet, a perfect candidate to be a student at the Markuson Junior Academy. Many would say he was following in his older brother's footsteps, but this was anything but true. While his brother had been an orderly, studious type scouted for his interest in psychology, Everett was a naïve, zestful young boy invited for his commitment to robotics.

For a while, Everett had trouble picking up hobbies. They knew the hyperactive, starry-eyed 17-year-old for getting easily distracted and picking up one thing after another. From creating small gadgets to help around the house to win nationwide tournaments against groups much older in age than he was, Everett’s skills with robotics were unlike anything anyone in the town of Macabay had ever seen. Yet, to him, it never felt like it was enough.

He was constantly looking for ways to improve. He would observe the natural features of animals and the abilities of robots from fictional stories, trying to bring them to his own works. There was one thing he would never do, however. He refuses to create anything that the military could use in war. Whether it be a mindless bot wielding a gun, a stealthy landmine, or a contribution to an atomic bomb, he knew he wouldn’t be able to live with himself if his work was being used to hurt another human being. Growing up sharing a roof with a peace activist, a scarred veteran, and psychology student, it was only natural for him to have anti-war ideas. The dreadlocked teen wanted nothing but to pursue his interest and help in whatever way he could. ...less
